Whenever you decide to change colors on the exterior, it can be a difficult and time-consuming task. Most homeowners are aware that changing colors can dramatically change the entire look of your home but if you pick the wrong color it can be a costly mistake that you will either have to live with or spend money to repaint it. There are several things to consider when you decide to change the color on your home. The first thing to do is to create a list of the colors that you like. Once you have a list made of your favorite colors, try to narrow that list down to three or four that you like the most. After you have chosen a few colors that you really like, you need to determine what color will look the best with the color roof that you have as well as the brick or masonry that you have on your home. Evans Painting just completed an exterior painting job located in the Tutwiler Farms subdivision of Trussville Al.
As you can see in the before and after pictures, the homeowners chose a nice, soft shade of gray for the siding and a bright white was used on all of the trim which created a very nice contrast to the gray on the siding. This is a good example of picking colors that compliment your roof and
brick. Next, you should consider the other exterior colors that are popular in your neighborhood. If most of the homes in your neighborhood are neutral or earth tones it probably wouldn’t be a good idea to paint your home red. Also, keep in mind that you will probably be choosing multiple colors, one for your siding, one for your trim and another for shutters or doors.
You will want to make sure that all of your colors work well together. Whatever exterior paint colors that you choose is a something that you probably have to live with for a long time, so take your time, test different paint samples on your house and make sure the color you chose is something that you are going to be happy with for years to come. If you have any questions about exterior color choices, check with a local Trussville AL painting contractor for suggestions.
